On April 17 – May 16, 2023, the WP3 Leader Dr. Eng. Aleksandra Kozłowska, conducted research at RWTH Aachen University, Steel Institute in Germany. The university is among the 150 best universities in THE and QS rankings. The scientific supervisor of the internship was prof. Ulrich Krupp. The university has world-class laboratory equipment, thanks to which the research using the tomography method with an atomic probe (also referred to as APT or 3D Atom Probe) and FIB (Focus Ion Beam) were carried out. APT is the material analysis technique that offers extensive capabilities for both 3D imaging and atomic-scale measurements of chemical composition. It is a unique device in Europe. Moreover, the investigations using a scanning electron microscope and the EBSD method were performed. The research visit allows to increase experience in carrying out research in an international team and allows to discuss with world-class specialists in the field of steels intended for automotive industry.
